The Parish Plan is completed and reflects the aspirations of residents of the parish of Thornton le Dale for the period 2014 to 2019 and was based on the results of a Survey which was conducted in the autumn of 2013.
The 'localism' agenda, being driven by the Government, stresses the importance of consultation of communities. Local authorities, such as Parish Councils, District Councils County Councils and National Parks Authorities, are duty bound to refer to Parish Plans in formulating their policies and spending priorities. Issues raised through Action Plans should receive preferential consideration over other 'unplanned' proposals. Our Action Plan was subject to regular review by the Thornton le Dale Parish Council.
All residents were invited to attend the 'Drop-in' Evening in March 2014 where the Survey results were on display, together with Parish Action Plan for 2014 - 2019. The evening was very popular and included representatives from a number of interested bodies:
- Thornton le Dale Parish Council
- Ryedale District Council
- North Yorkshire County Councillor
- North Yorkshire Moors National Park
- Forestry Commission
- North Yorkshire Police
